A fancy film and a personal favorite.

It is 8 minutes past two in the morning EST and I have just turned on the television. I press the "guide" button on the remote and scroll down the list of channels. I stop at 708, Hi-Def TBS. Mars Attacks! What a fancy film! I remember when this movie arrived in the theater on December 13th, 1996. I saw it opening day. How this movie did not become an instant classic is beyond me. It is awesome. Look at some of the people who worked on this movie:

Jack Nicholson - 3 Oscars, 7 Golden Globes (12 Oscar Nominations)

Glenn Close - 2 Emmy Awards, 2 Golden Globes (5 Oscar Nominations)

Annette Bening - 1 Golden Globe, (3 Oscar Nominations)

Pierce Brosnan - 2 Golden Globe Nominations (Plus he was flippin' James Bond)

Danny DeVito - 1 Emmy Award, 1 Golden Globe (1 Oscar Nomination)

Martin Short
- 1 Emmy Award

Sarah Jessica Parker
- 4 Golden Globes, 2 Emmy Awards

Michael J. Fox
- 4 Golden Globes, 4 Emmy Awards (plus he was the Teen Wolf, the most bad-ass basketball player to ever lace up a pair of Nikes)

Rod Steiger - 1 Oscar, 1 Golden Globe (3 Oscar Nominations)

Tom Jones - The Famous Singer

Jim Brown
- The Famous Football Player

Natalie Portman - 1 Golden Globe (Oscar Nomination)

Sylvia Sidney - 1 Golden Globe (Oscar Nomination)

Jack Black
- Comedians do not win awards but he makes people laugh.

Christina Applegate
- Gave us Kelly Bundy.

It was also directed by the one and only Tim Burton while the music was scored by the terrific Danny Elfman. It is nothing short of a masterpiece.

  1. Great stuff. I like those Nikes, fur for the winter. FANCY stuff. Although the movie is not a personal favorite of mine, I do agree, the cast is ridiculously good. Just missing Tom Cruise...
